✦ Small Studio. Real Work. Honest Design.
Lila Monroe runs a cozy, hands-on creative studio in Austin, Texas — helping indie businesses and community nonprofits look and feel like themselves. No jargon, no fluff, just design that actually connects.
✦ Selected Projects
A few recent favorites — from neighborhood coffee spots to community art collectives, here's where creativity met real need.
A full visual identity for a beloved South Austin indie coffee shop — logo, packaging, menu, and social kit. The owners wanted something that felt like the neighborhood: warm, lived-in, and a little hand-drawn. That's exactly what we made.
From $850Designed and built a full website for a local nonprofit arts group that runs community mural projects across East Austin. Needed it to feel inviting and easy to donate through — mission accomplished on both counts.
From $1,200Branding for a small plant and goods market that pops up around Austin's neighborhood festivals. We built a brand kit — colors, fonts, a logo with real personality — that works on a banner, a tote bag, or an Instagram post equally well.
From $650✦ About Lila
Hi, I'm Lila Monroe — and Lila's Canvas & Co. is my little creative home base right here in Austin, Texas. I run the studio out of my house, which means every project gets genuinely personal attention. There's no account manager, no outsourced team. Just me, my sketchbook, my laptop, and a lot of good coffee.
I started this studio because I noticed a gap: small businesses and nonprofits in Austin were doing meaningful, community-rooted work — but their branding didn't reflect that. They either couldn't afford agencies or were getting cookie-cutter results that felt wrong for who they actually were. I wanted to change that.
My clients are indie coffee shops, community art groups, neighborhood markets, and scrappy nonprofits doing real good in the city. I love that. These are the people who make Austin feel like Austin. Helping them look the part is some of the most satisfying work I know.
My values are simple: be honest about what you're making, keep the process human, and never let design get in the way of a good story. I'm not chasing trends or awards — I'm chasing that moment when a client sees their brand and says, "Yes. That's exactly it." That's the whole point.

★★★★★
"Working with Lila felt like working with a friend who happens to be incredibly talented. She listened to everything we said about our coffee shop's vibe — the old brick walls, the regulars who stay for hours — and somehow turned all of that into a logo and brand kit that made us cry happy tears when we saw it. Our customers keep asking about it."

"We're a small nonprofit with a tiny budget and a big mission. Lila treated us like we were her most important client. She built us a website that actually gets people to donate and sign up to volunteer — two things our old site could never do. She also walked us through how to update it ourselves, which was a game-changer for our team."

"I was nervous about spending money on branding when I was just starting out at farmers markets. Lila talked me through what I actually needed vs. what could wait. My Rooted Market brand kit is exactly right — people stop at my table because of the visual identity she created, and I've doubled my sales since the rebrand. Worth every single dollar."
